Hydrographic Surveyor / Project Engineer

Viking Dredging is in search of an experienced, driven, project-oriented Hydrographic Surveyor to join our team in Texas. The position will provide the individual a path towards becoming a Project Engineer and eventually a dredging Project Manager.

Your Opportunity:

  • A chance to work both in the field and the office. The majority of the candidates' time will be in the office performing various dredging analyses.
  • The primary focus will be Project Engineer duties, including project performance analysis, bid analysis, equipment maintenance tracking and anything else required regarding past, current and future dredging projects. Our intent is to develop the candidate to have experience beyond surveying for career advancement into higher paying roles.
  • The secondary focus will be the performance of hydrographic surveys for ongoing dredging projects. The surveys will be used for pre and post dredge surveys and also interim surveys for quality control.

Desired Qualifications Skills:

  • Preferable, but not required, Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Surveying or Geomatics degree (or equivalent) from an accredited college/university.
  • 2-5 years of experience in Bathymetric equipment includes multibeam echo sounders, single beam echo sounders, side scan sonar, sub-bottom profiler, GPS survey instruments, utility locating equipment, and small vessels.
  • Experience with HYPACK data collection and processing software, AutoCAD/Mapping as well as Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience with the setup and configuration of computer workstations and networks; working aboard vessels; and working with hand tools necessary to install electronic or mechanical equipment aboard a vessel.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with a client focus and a can-do attitude are required.
  • Must be detail oriented, team player, safety conscious, and able to manage multiple work assignments.
  • Boating and nautical skills and hold, or ability to obtain, state boating license.
  • Ability to travel and work shifts aboard a vessel.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
